Today, our National Health Service (NHS) celebrated its 70th birthday and we want to pay tribute to this much valued institution. So much has been achieved since its inception in 1948 – from the eradication of diseases like polio to the world’s first heart transplant.
At Novartis, we are proud of the NHS for transforming the health, well-being and prosperity of the nation, and we’d like to say a huge thank you to all the hardworking staff for their tireless dedication, compassion and excellent care.
We acknowledge that the NHS is not without its challenges today – and they’re very different to what they were 70 years ago. But the history of the NHS is one of evolution and responding to the changing needs of the nation. Hear our Managing Director and Country President, Haseeb Ahmad, outline these challenges, describe the importance of partnership to overcome them, and give an insight into what the next 70 years of the NHS could potentially entail.
