Applications are now open for the Greater Manchester Future of Health Challenge
Jul 15, 2019
How would you like to be mentored by a range of partners who are committed to helping you to launch your innovations directly into the health service, in a region dedicated to nurturing digital talent?
Novartis is very excited to be partnering with a broad group of organisations to provide a unique opportunity for a select few start-up companies. The Greater Manchester Future of Health Challenge is calling upon health-tech entrepreneurs of all stages who wish to create groundbreaking technology that will improve people’s lives through purpose-driven innovation.
Novartis is committed to reimagining medicine through digital, so by creating an environment where start-ups can identify tangible ways to bring new ideas and technologies into the clinic, The Greater Manchester Future of Health Challenge is making this a reality.
The Challenge itself has been set by health service leaders in Greater Manchester who have identified three core areas in which they are actively looking for digital innovations to benefit local services. These are:
Solutions that improve the experience of those with Dementia and/or Frailty.
Solutions allowing primary care and outpatient services to be delivered in or near the home for patients.
Innovations to allow Digital Nudges (digital method of positively influencing people’s behaviour) to improve Prevention and Public Health.
Novartis will be working alongside an ambitious group of Partners and Affiliates including Up Ventures, Google, Push Doctor, MediaCityUK, The Landing, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, Salford Digital, Health Innovation Manchester, and Apadmi. Together we will oversee an intense pitch and selection process, after which 15 start-up companies will embark on a 12-week immersive acceleration programme to help develop their ideas into viable proposals to improve patient care.
During the process, participants will be pushed to challenge their existing thinking, improve all aspects of their business and put the customer experience first. To do this, they will be offered a range of support including mentoring, investment, networking, office space and access to a range of commercial and healthcare masterclasses, as well as unique resources, mentoring, and healthcare and clinical knowledge from Novartis.
Furthermore, successful candidates will have access to one of the UK’s 5G testbeds, so can take advantage of immersive technologies and artificial intelligence to create new applications.
The closing date for applications is July 25th 2019. In the weeks that follow, Novartis and its partners will select the lucky applicants who go into the accelerator programme which is when the hard work starts. We couldn’t be more excited!
Please do come back for more updates as we follow the successful applicants through the programme and see their ideas come to fruition.
