Grants, Charitable Donations, and Medical Education Goods and Services
Novartis provides funding to external organisations in the interest of driving its mission to improve healthcare, advance scientific/medical knowledge or support the communities where Novartis associates live and work. In line with this commitment, Novartis adheres to all guidelines relating to ethical business conduct, including its support of projects that promote patient care, delivering education to the medical and scientific community, providing charitable donations and through the provision of medical education goods and services.
As part of our funding philosophy, we consider the following:
Grants to UK-based organisations to support medical/scientific, education, policy initiatives, and patient advocacy related activities in our areas of interest.
Charitable Donations for altruistic purposes to enhance healthcare in general, or to support communities where we live and work. Charitable donations will not be provided to for-profit organisations.
Medical Education Goods and Services (MEGS) that enhance patient care or benefit the NHS and maintain patient care. Examples of such activities can include:
Nursing support for patient review services
Service audits to facilitate service and patient pathways redesign
Nursing support for patient database audit review
From May 2021 until December 2021, Novartis is also able to offer a limited number of facilitated non-promotional virtual programmes designed to help the specialist service optimise their patient pathway. The Re-imagining Care Pathways is available to healthcare and service teams who meet the eligibility criteria. The programmes are funded and organised by Novartis Pharmaceuticals UK Ltd as Medical and Educational Goods and Services (MEGS). The transfer of value will be publicly disclosed.
The Re-imagining Care Pathways MEGS comprises of 1:1 consultations and a virtual workshop with the NHS project team to identify key challenges within the service, and identify possible solutions.
