Project name: Mobile Macular Outreach Service
Joint working project summary:
The main aim of the PROJECT is to set up a mobile eye treatment centre with capability for timely patient follow-up and treatment to enable Frimley Park Hospital, to overcome capacity issues within the Macular Service.
The mobile treatment/review unit will be used in a number of locations across Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire to improve patient experience by providing care closer to home.
Expected patient outcomes for this project:
Improved patient experience
Reduced travel time for patients
Reduced capacity issues within Department of Ophthalmology
Maintain follow up intervals to 4 weeks
Reducing waiting times/lists for patient review
Increase in overall number of clinics and appointment slots provided within Ophthalmology
Start date and duration: 1 July 2014 for 24 months
