Royal Surrey County NHS Foundation Hospital Trust, Guildford
Joint working partner(s): Royal Surrey County NHS Foundation Hospital Trust, Guildford
Project name: RSCH nurse-led MPN clinic development programme
Project period: 12 months.
Joint working project summary:
The haematology service is currently running without a dedicated nurse-led MPN/CML clinic with patients being seen within the wider mix of haematology outpatients by consultants. The opportunity exists to utilise existing Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) resource to move away from the current consultant led management of patients with stable disease to one where these patients are managed by the CNS. This will free up existing outpatient clinics and consultant time for the management of more demanding complex cases. The collaborative approach with Novartis will support the development of a dedicated CNS led MPN/CML service at RSCH improving access to high quality cancer services for patients with these disorders.
Expected patient outcomes for this project:
Improved quality of care
Improved patient experience
Increase in appropriately treated patients
Increased patient satisfaction
Reduced wait times
Increased patient reported outcomes
Improved patient concordance and adherence to therapy .
Start date and duration: January 2015 – January 2016
