Apprenticeships are an excellent opportunity to gain an insight into the innovative and fascinating world of healthcare, gaining work experience and the chance to study towards nationally recognised qualifications while getting paid.
Apprenticeships are designed to span between 2-3 years, with higher apprenticeships 3-5 years depending on the qualifications achieved and our apprentices will work in a specific role within divisions such as Novartis Technical Operations in Grimsby.

The Novartis Apprenticeship programme blends on the job practical experience with theoretical learning at a college. Novartis Grimsby Ltd provides important manufacturing facilities for the Novartis global business. We make medicines for a range of diseases, including hypertension, oncology, arthritis, diabetes and epilepsy. Along with sister plants in Switzerland, Ireland, Brazil and China, we are responsible for the worldwide supply of pharmaceutical drug substances for Novartis Pharma.
Based at our Grimsby site, our Apprenticeship programme is designed to create both Quality practitioners and engineers of the future. Apprentices play a hugely important role at Novartis, solving challenges that arise from some of the most advanced equipment in the industry. As an apprentice, you will be required to operate and maintain complex equipment and ensure that high safety and quality standards are followed.
You will be required to:
Comply with required standards with respect to areas such as documentation, good manufactuiring practice (GMP), health and safety as well as internal procedures
Gain a full understanding of the engineering process and demonstrate a full understanding of maintenance processes and requirements
Ensure projects are suitably managed
Conduct monthly maintenance of all production equipment
Audit actions completed with agreed time frame
Implement continuous improvement initiatives within an agreed timeframe
Educate the team on actions implemented to resolve issues
Who we are looking for
To be considered for our apprenticeship opportunities you must have recently completed your A Levels or Btech and have a keen interest in healthcare. We expect apprentices to be able to demonstrate the following:
a science-based background or focus is desirable
excellent interpersonal skills, communication and teamwork
excellent influencing skills with a strong desire to enhance your business skills
some relevant work experience is desirable but not essential, preferably within your area of interest
astute analytical skills and an aptitude for problem solving
flexibility on work location and possible aspirations for future global moves
