Information for Patients and Carers
If you have a question about your medicine or you are worried about your health or medical treatment, please ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice. They will be in the best position to be able to help you. If your doctor or pharmacist would like additional information on your medicine in order to answer your questions, we would, of course, be happy to provide it for him/her upon request.
Medicines.org.uk
Medicines.org.uk is an independent website providing objective and up-to-date medicine information. On this site you will find:
-
Medicine Guides – an initiative developed in partnership with NHS Direct, as part of the Medicines Information Project, which aims to provide information about medicines, conditions and the different treatment options available.
- Regularly updated Summaries of Product Characteristics (SmPCs) and Patient Information Leaflets. The Patient Information Leaflets are available in formats suitable for people with normal vision, as well as those with visual impairments.
Possible side effects
All medicines can cause side effects, although you may not experience any of them. If you do experience side effects that cause you concern please tell your doctor or pharmacist immediately. You should report this information to the Health Authority. Reporting forms and information can be found at www.yellowcard.gov.uk. You may also wish to notify Novartis Pharmaceuticals UK Limited using the following telephone number, 01276 698370. Our hours of opening are: 09.00hr to 17.00hr.
The ABPI Code of Practice
As members of the pharmaceutical industry, Novartis is restricted by a Code of Practice from discussing prescription-only medicines directly with patients, their family, friends or carers. In addition, we cannot discuss specific cases with patients, their family, friends or carers. This restriction has been placed upon us in order to protect the confidentiality that exists between patients and the medically-qualified personnel who care for them. It would also be inadvisable for anyone who is not completely familiar with a patient’s medical history to offer advice on his or her care.
