Novartis has a well-earned reputation for introducing innovative and effective medicines for disease areas in need of new therapies - particularly in oncology, transplantation and ophthalmology. We are also known for producing new and ever-more efficient medicines for the more common cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, as well as for diseases affecting the brain.
Novartis currently has a total of 75 development projects in the pipeline, of which 70% are in trial phases II or III, or in registration. 90% of these projects offer new modes of action or are treatments meeting unmet clinical needs.
In 2006, Novartis commitment to research and product innovation was recognised worldwide, with the Scrip Award for best product pipeline within the pharmaceutical industry.
