Corporate Citizenship

Community ProgrammesAt Novartis, we are committed to corporate citizenship, and with due integrity we work with communities worldwide, sharing our resources, time and funds.

Our principles and policies are based around four guarantees to:
  • patients – to discover high quality healthcare products targeting unmet medical needs
  • people – build an exciting workplace where people grow and realise their talent
  • health, safety and environment – reduce our environmental footprint
  • business conduct – ensure corporate governance through high ethical standards in our management processes

In 2000, Novartis was the first pharmaceutical company to sign the United Nations Global Compact – set up to help achieve ‘globalization with a human face’ and extend the benefits of globalization to all.  Novartis and other signed-up companies agree to support 10 principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption.

We have been widely recognised for our corporate citizenship programme:
  • Fortune magazine named Novartis the World’s Most Admired pharmaceutical company in 2007
  • The Financial Times has ranked Novartis among the World’s Most Respected companies
  • Barron’s magazine has named Novartis one of the Word’s Most Respected companies
